As part of a new artist residency program for Marlboro Music artists, the Tempest String Quartet will be in residence on Potash Hill this February. Their residency culminates with a free concert for the community, on Sunday, February 9 at 2 pm in Ragle Hall. The ensemble will perform music by Joy Lisney, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven. Admission is free (no reservations required). We hope you can join us!
Marlboro Music’s artist residency program brings exceptional emerging artists and ensembles to campus for deep creative work and informal concert offerings. The Tempest Quartet, which features 2022-24 Marlboro Music participant Leonard Fu, will use their residency to expand their repertoire, prepare for future musical engagements, and share their talents with our local community.
Founded in 2017 at the New England Conservatory in Boston, the Tempest Quartet was the recipient of the 2018 NEC Honors Ensemble Award as well as first prize winner at the 4th ENKOR International Chamber Music Competition. The quartet members are laureates of many international competitions such as the Paganini, Joseph Joachim, Juilliard, and Schadt competitions and have studied with Joel Krosnick, Donald Weilerstein, Miriam Fried, Kim Kashkashian, and Catherine Cho, among others.
