Green River Marathon Begins on Potash Hill

August 22, 2023

On Sunday, August 27, 550 runners will gather on the Potash Hill campus for this year’s New England Green River Marathon.

We are pleased to be the starting point for this annual event, which is acclaimed as one of the most beautiful races in New England. The course starts here in Marlboro, Vermont and follows the course of the Green River through an 1870s covered bridge, ending with a finish-line celebration at Greenfield Community College in Massachusetts.

This year’s event, which is a Boston Marathon qualifier, has the largest number of registered participants yet. According to findmymarathon.com, the Green River Marathon is the 17th fastest course in the country, with 650 feet of uphill terrain and 2,109 feet of downhill, for a net of 1,459 downhill.
